The technology and legislation on fire prevention and fire protection inside buildings is demanding. It should not be ignored that a fire can also be set from external factors and it can develop on the roof due to burning embers carried by the wind from fires of neighbouring buildings. Even the presence of photovoltaic systems, with relative wiring, is a risk factor, even if minimal, it must be considered.
The BROOF certification represents the specific assessment of the risk of propagation to external fires of roof coverings and of the fire reaction class.
MPM waterproofing solutions are certified Broof (t4). This allows to sell products complying with the regulations on resistance and safety.
Test methods and fire performance are defined in the UNI CEN / TS 1187 standard. The Fire Department circular accepts the use of waterproofing systems classified according to the standard as BROOF (t2), BROOF (t3) and BROOF (t4). The identification of the test method used is indicated with (t1), (t2), (t3), (t4), where the numerical progression does not indicate a greater and lesser fire resistance but the different test method. The performances are identified with the letters: the BROOF indicates the maximum possible classification while FROOF indicates the absence of performance.- no penetration of the cover within 1 hour
– in the preliminary test, after the withdrawal of the test flame, the samples burn for <5 minutes
– in the preliminary test the spread of fire is <0.38 m through the damaged area
In the mpm product range there are two certified B-Roof fireproofing solutions able to solve the main sealing problems of roofs and terraces, respecting the current fire regulations:
• STARFLEX MONO TIX FR, B-Roof certified fireproof single-component polyurethane liquid membrane (t4) that can be easily applied by roller on roofs that are also degraded
• STARFLEX HR FR, B-Roof certified fireproof polyurea (t4) applicable with Bimixer Proportional Hot Spray device.
